Financial Peace At Last

I wanted to write a separate post about our finances, because it is a very deep subject and near the very top of the list of reasons we left the US.  Before we left the states, we were living paycheck-to-paycheck. We were only a few paychecks away from utter ruin, and certainly a broken-down car or major house repair would have put us over that edge.

We did every kind of realization technique, but the stress of our situation made it  hard for us to focus. I marketed myself heavily in my area, and my husband switched jobs twice hoping for increased prosperity. At the end of the day, we felt we were sinking deeper into debt and my client list was consistently low. Our prospects were few, and our kids were missing out on opportunities due to our finances, and it was incredibly stressful!

We realized that world travel was something we very much wanted to give our kids, along with the chance to get to know some of their relatives overseas. So we turned our sails into the wind and pushed off, not fully knowing what this new land would have in store for us.

Our first couple of months here were hard, I'm not going to lie. Living with my in-laws was a less-than-wonderful experience. I don't want to cast full blame here, but I will place a great majority of the responsibility on my brother-in-law, who I am convinced has Narcissistic Personality Disorder.  He very covertly (and therefore effectively) manipulated people in the family to be even more against me than they already had been. The smear campaign against us ("us" being my husband, children, and myself) was also fairly effective. Other family members suddenly shied away from us "out of the blue", and it became obvious that our good names had been smeared far and wide.

My husband was having trouble finding work and we felt trapped inside the House of Horrors, until one day we just took a huge risk and moved 1.5 hours away from the countryside and into a city. We remembered about the Law of Attraction, and released the old completely and focused on the flow of the new coming towards us.  Once we let go of the hostile situation we were leaving, opportunities suddenly started flowing towards us.

First, we found an apartment we could afford (thanks to the govt. subsidies, rental assistance, and unemployment benefits afforded all citizens out of work for any reason). We had zero rental experience in this country (which is very important to the landlords here), but by "lucky chance" ran into a landlord who had worked with ex-pats before and who was willing to give us a chance. Finances were very tight, but we made it work. We simply made up our minds that we would find prosperity in the city, and so we would stick it out.

We got a good deal on a used car from a friend, we had a furnished apartment very conveniently located near so many awesome things in the city (and yet on a very quiet and safe street), and our social circle was slowly increasing.

Then, my husband decided to start working on his 3rd college degree (he figured that he might as well since he wasn't working).  Once he made that decision to move forward, the phone finally rang to offer him a very well paying job, and he'll still be able to take classes,
further increasing his opportunities.

We now can live very comfortably, in a place far more drama-free than before and with so many blessings just flowing our way all the time. We keep meeting new people, finding new places to explore, and new activities to take part in. The kids are thriving and really enjoying our new,
exciting life close to the beach.

We are essentially debt free (except for a couple of items that we can now actually tend to). We are outside far more often than we were in the states as the weather is always agreeable and there is a very strong culture of being outside here.  We are making great plans for more travel soon, and are enjoying a lifestyle that we could only dream about a year ago.

I realize that money cannot buy happiness, but I feel when you set your mind to it and allow prosperity to flow in, money can certainly enhance life in some very wonderful ways. If you can focus on what you're dreaming of as though it already existed in your life, you will attract that dream to you (according to Abraham-Hicks).
Try it and see what positive thinking might do for you!
