Days of the Week gnomes and a weather peg doll
Week 1 has begun with a bang! We have had two great days so far, and already the kids are starting to feel their way back into their "school day" rhythms very nicely.
We have (thus far) had this rhythm:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Light our Candle
sing our greeting song (lyrics below)
recite our monthly poem
mental math questions
transition song to the table
math lesson (one child at a time, the other may get a quick drink/snack while waiting)
15 minute play break
language arts lesson (one child at a time, the other may play while waiting)
lunch and outside play break
Science (both kids together)
15 minute play break
Ancient Rome (DS11) while DD9 plays
Now Our Work Is Done - Blow out the Candle
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Morning Greeting Song
Our daughter has a moment of protest before we sing our song (she's NOT a fan of singing unless it is on HER terms), but she is doing better at only giving a moment of protest before joining in peacefully. Both kids seem to be really enjoying our lessons, and I think that even though they've been really enjoying the break that summer has given them, they seem almost relieved to have some structure back into their day again.
